Bree Above

Bree Above
Artist: ASH
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: Spunone Productions

Description
In "Bree Above," ASH uses a haunting, monochromatic blue color scheme to explore psychological pressure and the chaos of the mind. The central figure, modeled after the artist’s recurring subject Bree, shows a moment of intense emotional overwhelm.
The composition features a dense, impasto technique. Thick layers of paint create a tactile feeling of suffocation. Surrounding the central figure are distorted, ghostly faces representing intrusive thoughts or external anxieties that crowd her personal space. The large winged insect on her forehead serves as a metaphor for a troubling thought or worry that can't be easily dismissed.

About the Artist
ASH is known for a unique Surrealist-Impasto style that combines classical portraiture with dark, dream-like elements. Their work often explores the hidden aspects of human experience, using exaggerated textures and a cool-toned color palette to evoke a sense of melancholic beauty.
